A/E Technology Manager

General Description:
Provides leadership in the application of design technology. Researches and keeps abreast of the latest industry technology applications in design and recommends changes and new programs. Provides education, training and support to project teams so as to optimize the operational effectiveness of technology systems in design.

Specific Duties:
Manages CAD (ACAD, ADT, ABS, LDD) and BIM (Revit) software and deals with issues that hinder project design execution. Interfaces with IT on CAD/BIM-related issues that are operating system or hardware-related to assure speedy resolution. Keeps abreast of CAD/BIM trends so the company is prepared for changes/upgrades as they arise. Looks for new technologies. Manages other non-CAD/BIM software and corporate A/E electronic data such as MasterSpec, mfrs. selection software, etc.

  1. Coordinates design technology applications between users and internal/external technology providers.
  2. Incorporates company best practices into design technology.
  3. Serves as technology applications resource for configuration, training and coordinates help desk for design users.
  4. Advocates leveraging A/E technology in support of construction activities and vice versa.
  5. Leads efforts in evaluation, selection and implementation of new design technologies.
  6. Develops and implements best practices for technology and design application usage.
  7. Creates, maintains and provides direction for application of digital design standards and procedures.
  8. Develops and maintains computer applications to augment and integrate design functions.
  9. Provides guidance and recommendations for computer hardware and applications.
  10. Develops and maintains training standards for digital design tasks and applications. Coordinates digital design training and evaluation efforts.
  11. Provides assistance when requested in application of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  12. Participates in local and national design technology organizations.
  13. Serves as digital design application and standards resource for project kickoff meetings.

Additional Requirements:

  1. High school diploma and post secondary training in design technology (Bachelor's Degree preferred).
  2. Eight years minimum experience in digital design technology.
  3. Communication and interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to organize and manage complex implementation tasks, establish and meet schedules and maintain focus on goals.

CAD Operator / Construction Technician

Analytical Services Inc. in Culpeper, Virginia is looking for a Full-Time CAD Operator / Construction Technician.

We are an Environmental Consulting and Fueling Systems Design/Build Company. We are looking for a professional person to join our team of geologists and engineers in our Culpeper, VA Office. Candidate should be a team player, eager to learn and be willing to help out where needed.

Job Skills shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • Proficiency in mechanical drawing skills, AutoCAD 2007, Word, and Excel.
  • Successful candidate shall be organized and possess good writing and grammar skills.
  • Must have an interest in the construction and/or consulting industry.
  • An interest in mechanical parts ordering, expediting, shipping and receiving is a plus.

  • Associate of Science degree in an appropriate field such as Engineering, GIS, Mathematics or Geology

  • Knowledge of MS Office programs

Any candidate with at least one year experience and 1/4 of the appropriate Associate Degree credits will be given consideration for a position. Mechanical Designer

Unifin Chesapeake is a heat exchanger manufacturer located in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake. We design and build various types of heat exchangers for use in power station generators at this location. We have an opening for a mechanical designer. The duties for this position will be:

  • Create and/or check finished manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Maintain drawing and product records and databases. These include electronic and paper records.
  • Create, maintain and troubleshoot Visual Basic, AutoLISP, Excel and Access programming.
  • Resolve customer, manufacturing, and/or product problems within area of authority.

The education requirement for the position is a 2 year technology degree. A recent or upcoming graduate would be welcome. Prior work experience in a mechanical design or in a manufacturing environment would be a plus. The ability to use Inventor would be a plus.

The range of our product goes from replacement original heat exchangers which we manufacture from original drawings that may date to the 1920’s to heat exchangers for new applications that we will design at our facility here in Deep Creek.

Maritime Industry Designer and CAD Positions

PDS Technical Services is currently looking for 30 Entry-level to Senior level Designers in the Maritime Industry that specialize in HVAC, Hull/Outfitting/Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, and Piping. We are looking for those who can prepare sketches, layout and detail drawings according to design proposals and standards specifications and practices. Investigate and compile data required to develop a design. Prepare preliminary sketches and schematic diagrams. Employ the best combination of preliminary design information and contributing data to develop final designs. Consult with appropriate company personnel to resolve design problems related to manufacturing, material or quality requirements. Verify accuracy and completeness of finished drawings, ascertaining that designs and drawings conform to established specifications. Prepare or assist in preparing material and time estimates and equipment cost comparisons.

Associate degree in drafting/engineering technology, or the equivalent in specialized training. Naval design experience is preferable. Must have a thorough knowledge of accepted design/drafting methods and concepts, and be familiar with basic engineering and design principles relating to a specific area of work. Proficiency in use of applicable CAD equipment, such as Workstation ViViD, AutoCAD or CATIA. Must be eligible to obtain a DOD security clearance.

This is a 12-18 month contract, possible perm position at a leading Shipyard. Benefits offered.
